Sold Out - 2025 Property, Family & Succession Law Conference
The sold out conference on 20 March 2025 held at Noah’s on the Beach Newcastle, was a success delivering an exciting list of speakers and topics:
Keynote speakers: Her Honour Judge Jane Costigan and the Honourable Philip Hallen SC
Guest speakers: David Pritchard SC, Ian Duane, and Adrian Maroya
2 Selborne speakers: Simon Burchett, Cameron Jackson, Vera Culkoff, Laina Chan, Mark Friedgut, Jack Whelan, Gabrielle Colquhoun, Damien Toohey, Michelle Meares, and Jonathan Abednego
Topics included Succession Act releases in Family Law, Resulting Trusts, Running a case in the Supreme Court Property List, Trustees’ rights of Indemnity and Exoneration, Bankruptcy in Family Law, Farming cases in Family Law, Tax implications of Family Law Settlements, Ethical preparation of winning written statements and affidavits, Artificial Intelligence in Law Practice, Managing your Law Practice, Testamentary capacity and undue influence, Sole Beneficiaries in Family provisions claims, Assisting the Bench as a Practitioner in property matter, and Ethics in Law practice.

The proceeds of the raffle and profits from the conference will once again be donated to Jenny’s Place, a local charity providing support for women and children in the Newcastle area to find safety.

2024 Property and Family Law Conference
Barristers of 2 Selborne Chambers Laina Chan, Vera Culkoff, Mark Friedgut, Nipa Dewan, Jack Whelan and Michelle Meares, presented the 2024 Property and Family Law Conference on Thursday 21 March 2024 at Noah’s on the Beach, Newcastle.
Conference highlights included:
- Fireside chat with the Honourable Justice Bruce Smith and Judge Vivien Carty providing valuable perspectives on how to best assist the Bench
- Closing keynote by the Honourable J K Ward, President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal
- An interactive ethics workshop
- Three panels hosted by our Barristers and special guests David Pritchard SC, Ian Duane, Adrian Maroya and Peter Kernan
Conference attendees were also invited to an exclusive raffle of prizes including:
- Pair of Christian Louboutin shoes donated by Chrisitan Louboutin
- Cricket bat signed by esteemed Aussie Cricket Team Captain, Pat Cummins
- Australian Netball uniform, autographed by the Netball World Cup 2023 Champions, The Australian Diamonds
The proceeds of the raffle and profits from the conference were proudly donated to Jenny’s Place, a locale Newcastle charity providing safety for women and children from domestic violence.
